Junk hauling in Caldwell, the Burleson County seat
Caldwell's city crews handle bulk pickup by request, but not appliances with refrigerant. ME3 Junk Solutions hauls the rest of the list.
Caldwell sits where SH 21 crosses SH 36 and has been the Burleson County seat since the county was formed in 1846. Before that, it was the seat of Milam County. George B. Erath surveyed the town and named it for Mathew Caldwell. These days the downtown square is best known for the Kolache Festival, held the second Saturday of every September.
Caldwell's housing is a mix. About two-thirds of homes are single-family houses, and 18% are mobile homes, a much bigger share than in Bryan or College Station. The median home was built in 1990. Mobile homes get replaced and older houses get remodeled, and both leave behind more than a cart or a city bulk run can take.
Caldwell's city crews and bulk pickup
Caldwell runs its own sanitation crews for trash and bulk. To set up a bulk pickup, residents call the Utility Department at 979-567-3271, extension 100 or 101. Brush, leaf bags and old furniture go within 3 feet of the curb, with brush and leaves kept apart from everything else.
For recycling, the city runs a center at the City Warehouse, 1101 Commerce Street, open weekdays and Saturday mornings.
Roll-offs in Caldwell need a city permit
Caldwell is unusual here. The city is the only roll-off container provider in town unless another company registers with it, a permit is required, and the container has to be gone within 30 days after the project ends.
For a remodel that runs for weeks, a container can make sense. For a garage, a mobile home or one room of debris, loading it all onto a trailer in one visit usually works better. Nothing sits in the driveway. The junk removal vs. dumpster rental guide compares the two.
Outside city limits in Burleson County
Caldwell's crews serve the city. Out in the county, Burleson County collection stations are for county residents and landowners only, and each vehicle needs a yearly sticker. They take residential waste, but no construction materials like shingles, sheetrock, PVC or siding, and no freon appliances. Only the Deanville station takes tires. The Burleson County page has the station list.
What the work looks like here
- Mobile home cleanouts
- With nearly one in five Caldwell homes a mobile home, many jobs are clearing one out before it's sold, replaced or hauled off the lot. It's furniture, appliances, built-ins and whatever is in the shed.
- Refrigerators and freezers
- The city won't take any appliance with refrigerant, so a dead chest freezer or old fridge needs another way out.
- Remodel and roofing leftovers
- Sheetrock, shingles and siding are off-limits at county stations. Heavy material gets priced by weight before loading.
- Rural property and outbuildings
- Barns and sheds on the acreage around town. These get a walkthrough before pricing.
Appliance removal in Caldwell
Caldwell's sanitation division won't pick up any appliance that has refrigerant. That covers fridges, freezers and window units. Under federal rules, the last stop for the unit has to make sure the refrigerant is recovered, so these cost more to get rid of than a washer.
ME3 Junk Solutions hauls them from the kitchen, garage or porch. Refrigerant disposal requirements can add to the price, and that's settled before anything is loaded. See appliance removal.
Construction debris removal in Caldwell
Between the city's roll-off permit and county stations that refuse shingles, sheetrock, PVC and siding, renovation debris around Caldwell has few easy outs. Lumber, drywall, flooring and cabinets get loaded and hauled with no container left behind. See construction debris removal.
Property and mobile home cleanouts in Caldwell
A mobile home or rental left full by the last occupant is a property cleanout. It's priced once from a walkthrough or photos, then cleared in one visit when the size allows. With 18% of local homes being mobile homes, this comes up often.
