Junk removal in Lyons, between SH 36 and Lake Somerville

Lyons is an unincorporated Burleson County community on SH 36. ME3 Junk Solutions picks up from homes, lake places and properties around it.

Lyons runs along State Highway 36 about two miles from Lake Somerville, in south-central Burleson County. It isn't incorporated, so there's no city trash department to call. What it does have is a county collection station right in the community.

Weekend places near the lake, older houses in town and acreage off the county roads all fill up the same way: slowly, then all at once when someone sells, moves or remodels. That's when ME3 Junk Solutions gets the call.

A rail camp that became a trading town

Lyons started in 1880 as a camp for the crews building the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe line. Settler W. A. Lyon gave 50 acres for the right-of-way and opened the first general store. The stop was called Lyon's Station before the name got shorter.

Cotton, cottonseed and cattle shipped out by rail, and for a time Lyons was the second-largest town in the county. The ground here sits above the Austin Chalk, which is why oil wells dot the area. The big neighbor today is the lake: Lake Somerville State Park's Birch Creek and Nails Creek units are tied together by the 13-mile Lake Somerville Trailway.

The Precinct 4 station on CR 437

Burleson County's Precinct 4 collection station is at 12776 County Road 437 in Lyons, open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the county's posted schedule. It's for county residents and landowners, and every vehicle hauling trash needs the county's yearly sticker.

What it won't take matters as much as what it will. The county turns away commercial waste, construction materials and freon appliances, and only the Deanville station handles tires. If your load includes any of those, you need another plan.

What the work looks like here

Lake house clear-outs
Worn patio sets, old guest-room mattresses, a dead chest freezer in the carport. Send photos and you'll get a range back.
Remodel leftovers
Cabinets, flooring and sheetrock scraps after a kitchen or bath redo. Dense debris is priced by weight and handling, not just space, and pricing explains how.
Sheds off the county roads
Storage sheds and carports that quietly collected years of stuff, emptied in one trip.

Appliance removal in Lyons

Burleson County stations don't accept freon appliances, so a dead refrigerator, freezer or window unit in Lyons has nowhere local to go. Federal rules put the duty on the last stop in the disposal chain to make sure the refrigerant is recovered first.

ME3 Junk Solutions removes old appliances from kitchens, garages and porches. Units with refrigerant may carry an added disposal cost, and you'll hear about it before loading.

Hauling remodel debris out of Lyons

Shingles, sheetrock, PVC and siding are all on the county's list of construction materials its stations refuse. For a homeowner finishing a project, that leaves a pile and no drop-off. Construction debris removal covers lumber, drywall, flooring and cabinets.
