Grimes County junk removal, from Navasota to Iola

Grimes County holds the region's landfill but few drop-offs for bulky items. ME3 Junk Solutions covers Navasota, Iola and the land around them.

Anderson is the Grimes County seat, though it's only the third-largest town. The two places ME3 Junk Solutions covers by name sit at opposite corners: junk removal in Navasota, on a bend of the Navasota River in the southeast, and junk removal in Iola, on FM 39 in the northwest. Most of the county between them is rural.

Grimes is mostly owner-occupied, with newer housing than you might guess and a large share of mobile homes. Expect acreage, outbuildings and whole-property cleanouts more than apartment work.

Twin Oaks is here, but the county sites are small

Twin Oaks Landfill sits at 2690 State Highway 30 in Anderson, and BVSWMA runs it. For what it takes and what it charges today, go by the Twin Oaks Landfill website, not an old flyer. If you haul there, tie down anything loose for the highway.

The county's own citizen sites are at Anderson, Bedias, Iola, Stoneham and Whitehall. They take bagged household trash only, paid per bag, with boxes broken down. Tires go to the Stoneham site alone, four per trip with a recent utility bill. The county's Environmental Services office handles septic permits and roadside dumping, not waste service.

Pine, prairie and a lot of single-family land

Grimes County covers 799 square miles where the Post Oak Belt meets the Coastal Plain. The Navasota and Brazos rivers form its western edge, and pine forest covers much of the upland. State highways 30 and 105 run east and west across it.

About seven in ten homes in the county are single-family houses, and a little over a fifth are mobile homes. Only about a quarter of the housing was built before 1980, so this isn't mostly old stock. The work it produces is property work: emptying a house before a sale, clearing a shop or barn, hauling the furniture and appliances the bag-only county sites can't take.

Navasota's city drop-offs

Navasota has no curbside bulky pickup. City residents can bring up to four bulky items per load to the Recycle Center at 501 Fifth Street on Saturdays, and yard waste goes to the Brush Collection Facility on CR 415. Outside the city, neither is an option. The Brazos Valley disposal guide has the details.

A long list of storm declarations

Grimes County turns up often in FEMA's records: the May 2016 floods, Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the February 2021 winter storm, the April–May 2024 storms, Hurricane Beryl in 2024, and DR-4935 for the storms, tornadoes and flooding of July and August 2026.

Leftover chemicals and paint can go to BVSWMA's household hazardous waste collection, which takes Grimes County residents. The yearly Brazos Valley Community Clean-up Challenge includes Grimes communities too.

The next collection on TCEQ's list is Oct. 24, 2026, at 3380 University Drive East in College Station.
