Junk removal in Benchley, Robertson County's first community
Benchley is a small community on US 190, a short drive northwest of Bryan. Robertson County lists no collection stations, so hauling help matters here.
Benchley sits on US 190 in the southwest corner of Robertson County. It isn't incorporated, and the Census doesn't count it as a place of its own. It's a rural community with homes spread across farm and pasture land.
Being this close to Bryan doesn't mean Bryan's services reach it. Benchley is in a different county with a different setup, and for big items that setup is thin. ME3 Junk Solutions fills the gap: furniture, appliances, sheds, brush and full property cleanouts.
Staggers Point, then Benchley
The Handbook of Texas calls Benchley the first community in Robertson County. Irish immigrants settled here between 1829 and 1834 and called it Staggers Point. By the 1840s it had three stores, a racetrack and a gun club, and Robert Henry built the first cotton gin there in 1850.
When the Houston and Texas Central Railway arrived in 1868, the growing town took the name of its first freight conductor, Henry Benchley.
Here's the honest picture on trash
Robertson County's website lists no county collection stations and no clean-up days. What it does show is an ordinance, adopted in February 2024, prohibiting solid waste disposal in certain areas of the county.
With no county drop-off listed, a Benchley household with a pile of old furniture has two choices: haul it to a landfill or hire it out. The regional one is Twin Oaks Landfill on State Highway 30 in Anderson, opened in 2011 by BVSWMA, Inc., which Bryan and College Station formed in 2010. Who it serves, what it charges and when it's open are all on the Twin Oaks Landfill website, so read that before the truck gets loaded.
What the work looks like here
- Farmhouse and shop cleanouts
- Everything from bedroom furniture to old equipment, cleared out when a place changes hands.
- Old fencing and pens
- Wire, posts and gates hauled off once the new fence is up.
- One bulky item
- A worn-out sofa or a dead washer, with no curb pickup to set it out for. Furniture removal works the same out here as in town.
Storm cleanup and yard debris in Benchley
Robertson County was part of FEMA's declarations for the February 2021 winter storm, the April–May 2024 severe storms and Hurricane Beryl in July 2024. After weather like that, the cleanup is yours to sort out, and there's no county brush site to take it to.
ME3 Junk Solutions loads limbs, brush and storm-damaged fencing and hauls it off the property. See yard debris removal, or our storm cleanup post for what to do first.
