Furniture Removal · College Station, TX

Couches, mattresses and bedroom sets out of your College Station home

The city's bulky crew is a good deal when the couch can reach the curb. When it can't, or you rent, ME3 Junk Solutions carries it out and hauls it off.

Old furniture in College Station usually leaves one of two ways. It goes to the curb on bulky day, or it goes in somebody's truck. The city route is worth using when it fits, and we'll tell you so. This page is about the pieces where it doesn't fit: the sleeper sofa on the third floor, the mattress you can't fold into a hatchback, the dresser nobody wants to wrestle down the stairs.

Eddie and his son Matthew work these jobs themselves. Text a few photos of the pieces and where they sit, and you'll get a range and the next available window. Bigger or awkward jobs get a quick walkthrough. Either way you get one firm price before anything is loaded. For the full list of what counts, see our furniture removal service.

What College Station's bulky pickup takes

College Station picks up bulky items every week. The city defines bulky as furniture, appliances without freon units, and anything too large for the garbage cart. Bags of household garbage don't count, even if there are a lot of them.

Two rules trip people up. Bulky items need to be at the curb in front of the home by 8 a.m. on collection day. And the crew won't take a pile that mixes brush with bulky items, so a couch sitting on top of tree limbs stays put. Each needs its own pile.

If you own the house, can get the piece to the curb, and can wait for the week's route, the city is the place to start.

Renters and apartments are a different story

Most homes in College Station are rented. Census estimates put 64.6% of the city's occupied homes as renter-occupied, and 31.5% of all housing units sit in buildings with five or more units. That's a lot of furniture living up a flight of stairs.

The city refers apartments to private haulers, so the weekly bulky route isn't built for a tenant in a complex. That's where ME3 Full Service or ME3 White Glove comes in. You point at the futon or the bunk bed, and we carry it down, take it apart if it won't fit through the door, and load it. Stairs, long carries and disassembly can add to the price, and that's settled before we start, not after.

Mattresses: no Texas recycling program to lean on

People search for mattress disposal in College Station for a reason. There's no easy answer. The industry's Mattress Recycling Council runs state programs only in California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island, the states with mattress recycling laws. No Texas program turned up.

So a mattress here usually ends up in the same place as other bulky waste. A box spring and mattress are too big for the cart, which is the city's own test for bulky. If yours is stuck upstairs or you need it gone before you can wait on a route, we'll haul it with everything else. Mattresses are subject to disposal rules, and we'll tell you up front if one changes anything. Our guide on getting rid of a mattress in Bryan–College Station covers the do-it-yourself options too.

Donate first, the city says, and so does Texas A&M

College Station asks residents to donate usable items to local non-profits before putting them at the curb. In August 2024 the city told newcomers that moving creates a mountain of unwanted things and urged them to donate lightly used furniture instead of setting it out for bulk collection.

Texas A&M does the same on campus. Residence Life's Donate, Don't Dump program works with nonprofits to collect usable dorm items at spring move-out.

We're on the same page. If a piece is in good shape, tell us, and we'll look at donation or reuse when it's practical. We won't promise it, because it depends on the item and who can take it.

Picking the right level of help

If the recliner is already in the driveway, ME3 Express is the fit: you stage it, we haul it. If you've gathered things in the garage but don't want to lift them, that's Full Service. If you just want to point at the bedroom set and walk away, that's White Glove.

Price follows how much room the load takes in the trailer, plus any stairs or disassembly. Loading, hauling and responsible disposal are included. Here's how our pricing works. Clearing a whole unit at the end of a lease is a bigger job, and it has its own page: move-out cleanouts in College Station. The rest of what we haul around town is on our College Station junk removal page.

Questions

Furniture removal in College Station: questions

Should I use College Station's bulky pickup or pay for furniture removal?
Use the city if you can get the piece to the curb in front of your home by 8 a.m. on collection day and keep it apart from brush. Pay for furniture removal when it's stuck upstairs, you rent in a complex the city refers to private haulers, or you can't wait for the route.
Does furniture removal in College Station include carrying it down apartment stairs?
Yes, with ME3 Full Service or White Glove. Stairs, long carries and disassembly can add cost, and we settle that before we start.
Is there a mattress recycling program for furniture removal in College Station?
Not a state one. The industry's recycling programs run only in four states with mattress laws, and Texas isn't one of them, so plan on a mattress being treated like other bulky waste.
Can furniture from a College Station pickup be donated instead of dumped?
Sometimes. The city asks residents to donate usable items first, and we look at donation or reuse when it's practical, but we can't promise it for any piece.
