Furniture Removal · Bryan, TX

Furniture hauled out of Bryan homes, from any room

Bryan's brush and bulky crew takes furniture, if you follow the set-out rules. When you can't, ME3 Junk Solutions takes it from wherever it sits.

A lot of people in Bryan search for bulk trash pickup before they ever think about hiring someone. That makes sense. The city runs a weekly brush and bulky route that takes furniture, and for a lot of households it's the right answer.

But the route has rules about time, distance and size, and a heavy armoire doesn't get itself to the curb. We're a local family-run business, not a big franchise. Eddie spent 21 years in the Marine Corps, and he and his son Matthew handle the heavy lifting on these jobs. Here's when the city works, when it doesn't, and what our furniture removal service does instead.

Bryan's brush and bulky rules, in plain terms

The City of Bryan collects brush and bulky items, including furniture, appliances and large branches, once a week, Monday through Friday. If you're putting a sofa out, here's what the city asks:

  • Have it at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day, or 6 a.m. from June through August.
  • Don't set it out more than 48 hours ahead.
  • Keep it at least five feet from buildings, fences, posts, hydrants, parked cars and utility meters, and not under branches or overhead wires.
  • Make two piles: one for brush and one for bulky items.
  • Stay under 22 cubic yards, about one truckload, per residence per week. More than that costs extra, or you can haul it to Twin Oaks yourself.

The trash cart won't help, and a door hanger means it stayed

Bryan's Solid Waste team serves more than 29,000 residential accounts, and each home gets one 95-gallon cart. Furniture isn't allowed in it, and neither are appliances, electronics or construction debris. So a broken chair has to go through the bulky route or a hauler, even if you could squeeze it in.

When the crew leaves something behind, it hangs a notice on your door saying why. Hazardous items get an orange sticker. If you've found one on your door, the piece is still sitting at the curb.

Appliances are their own case. Bryan charges to pick up refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners so the refrigerant can be removed and certified, even if the unit is empty, unless it was pre-certified. If a fridge is going out with the furniture, tell us up front. Appliance disposal rules can add to the cost, and we'll say so before we load.

Older Bryan houses, heavier furniture

Bryan's housing is older and more mixed than its neighbor's. Census estimates show 33% of Bryan's housing units were built before 1980, and 49.1% of occupied homes are rented. The city created its Eastside Historic District in 1983 to preserve the character of many of its older homes.

Older houses tend to hold older furniture: solid wood dressers, cedar chests, sleeper sofas with steel frames. They can also mean narrow halls, tight turns and a staircase that was built before anyone owned a sectional. That's where the curb plan falls apart, and where we come in.

When the curb doesn't fit

Bryan's route is a good deal when you can meet it. It stops working when:

  • The bedroom set is upstairs and nobody in the house should be carrying it
  • Your lot is tight and there's no spot five feet clear of the fence, meter and parked cars
  • You're moving out before the next collection day
  • Your landlord or HOA doesn't want a pile sitting out for two days
  • A whole-house clear-out runs past the weekly limit

What we do instead

With ME3 Full Service, you gather it and we do the heavy lifting. With ME3 White Glove, you point at it and we take care of it, from any room, up or down stairs, taken apart if it has to be. Price follows the space the load takes in the trailer, plus stairs, long carries or disassembly, and it's all agreed before we start. See how pricing works.

Questions

Furniture removal in Bryan: questions

Does Bryan's bulk trash pickup take furniture every week?
Yes. The city's brush and bulky route runs weekly and takes furniture, as long as it's out by 7 a.m. (6 a.m. in summer), no more than 48 hours early, and five feet from fences, meters and cars.
When is furniture removal in Bryan worth it over the city's bulky route?
When the piece is upstairs, you can't meet the set-out rules, you're moving before collection day, or the pile would go past the weekly limit.
Can ME3 take a refrigerator along with furniture in Bryan?
Yes, appliances are part of what we haul. Refrigerant appliance disposal can add cost, and we'll tell you before we load.
